Skating
Finally the lake is ready for the rake to
come and clear away the fluffy snow
Go run and
Sharpen up your skates and put them by the gate,
cause Mama said it’s almost time to go
On the sledding hill the little kids are still
complaining that the runs are slow this year
Don’t tell them
We have learned to glide without the bumpy ride
on silver blades that go as fast as deer
Gliding over sleepy fish below
in between the shining banks of snow skating
All the trees are bare, the lights up everywhere
make everyone so glad at end of day
We slept all
through the winter night – the sun is shining bright
and now I want to find my friends and play
(instrumental)
Arabesquing through the pearly air
every toe is cold but we don’t care skating
I’ve been waiting ever since it was November
and the piles of fallen leaves turned white
At last it’s
Saturday and we all have the day to be out
with each other on the gleaming ice
